Of course, if the guy had gone home when his visa ran out rather than staying here to work illegally he wouldn't have been here to be shot.
I wonder if he had any legal certifications for his profession, I wonder if he had professional insurance, or life -sic- insurance. It's unforunate this illegal worker has postumously has cost the UK millions.
Or has my attempts at avoiding this entire story made me miss some key facts?
I'm unsuprised it was not 'lawful killing' as, after all, he wasn't a terrorist.

Let's look at this another way:
Why aren't the Immigration and Nationality Directorate (IND) up in court for not doing their job properly and directly being responsible for the guy being in the country in the first place for the police to end up killing?!
Obviously we should spend another couple of million quid on investigating that.
Perhaps the officers involved should be sueing the IND on the same basis.
I'm certainly not a Police or Government fanboi but I find it a very BAD joke that this entire screwup is costing the tax payer so much money.
The policeman who pulled the trigger and killed this illegal (who was effectively stealing from us) certainly didn't think 'ah ha, I know what I'm going to do today, I'm going to run into the underground and kill someone for fun'. No. He thought 'OMGWTF this guys going to blow up and kill everyone on the train I had better try and save everyone'. Afterwards I'm sure he though 'oh ****'.
The guy shouldn't have been there in the first place.
The police officer at the time was trying to save everyone.

Actually I would guess that trying to taser someone who's planning on blowing themselves up could very easily become more lethal.

It's not something that it's really had any prior experience in trying to manage. We've had bombers for a hell of a long time. As a kid I remember that if it wasn't the IRA it was firebombing anti-fur protesters. Still, they all mainly had the good grace to call it in before they blew it up.
I'm not glad that innocent guy was shot in the head and killed but I'm very glad there are people out there willing to do whatever it take to defend our society from people who would, with no compunction at all, would blow up an entire train of people.
